WOLVES AT THE DOOR
The wolves are coming to Fayetteville. With a dramatic come-from-behind victory, Arkansas punched its ticket to the Super Regionals, where they'll face an unfamiliar foe:
The Razorbacks have never faced the Wolfpack. Not in regular season play. Not in the postseason. And certainly never at Baum-Walker Stadium with a trip to Omaha on the line.
This week, we'll be breaking down three things to know about NC State leading up to Game 1 on Friday night. Up first—they're pretty, pretty, pretty good at hitting.
▶️ This Team Has Bats: No, ACC pitchers aren't as good as the SEC pitchers that Arkansas faced. But NC State still finished with a team batting average of .291 in conference play, best in the ACC. And they were the only team over .500 in slugging. Compare that to the Razorbacks, who hit .269 with a slugging percentage of .461.
▶️ Four Of A Kind: I don't care where you play, if you're batting .389 you're doing something right... and that's exactly what NC State's Jonny Butler did in ACC play this season. Joining him in the Over .300 Club are three players—Tyler McDonough, Austin Murr, and Terrell Tatum.
▶️ Follow Through: Keep in mind that all these stats are with an early-season slump. They swept Alabama and Louisiana Tech this past weekend thanks to a .314 team batting average, 12 doubles, and one triple over three games.
Game 1 of the Fayetteville Super Regionals is on Friday night at 5:00pm CT. You can watch the game on ESPNU.
