The most important day of fall camp. That's how head coach Sam Pittman described the first practice after classes started. It's one thing to be able to practice hard and focus when there is only football to think about. When classes are in session, and your day is filled, it can get a little tougher.
And by all accounts, Coach Pittman was pleased with how his players are handling that balance.
Here are all the videos, observations, and highlights from Day 15 of practice:
▶️ Lofty Pursuits: Arkansas is coming into another season with a new quarterback, but looking around at the rest of the SEC—and seeing a handful of teams still not set on who their QB1 is—and it's encouraging that the Hogs have known for as long as they have who their starting guy is under center. Offensive coordinator Kendal Briles spoke about KJ Jefferson's goals for the season, and how accuracy is an important indicator for success in 2021: "“I really like where he’s at from a practice standpoint with his accuracy. With our offense and what we do, I’d like for him to be over 65%. If we’re doing that, we’re hitting pretty good."
▶️ Straight To The Point: Jalen Catalon was the talk of the town yesterday, as he was the first Razorback football player to earn Preseason All-American honors since Frank Ragnow in 2017. But he said he saw a focused and disciplined group: "We kept it a little light but at the same time we were in full attack mode. Coach always emphasizes that every team goes through it, has the first day of class along with football practice, so how are we going to separate ourselves?"
Arkansas continues fall camp today in the lead up to their season opener against Rice next Saturday.
