SEC Media Days went out with a bang. Coach Sam Pittman was able to give us some nuggets about the state of the Razorback football program, how the quarterback competition is coming along, and more.

Here's what caught our attention from those talkin' Hogs.

▶️ Man Of The People. If there was a theme to Coach Pittman's press conference in the main hall with reporters, it's that he's a proud damn coach in a proud damn state. He said he's one of us because he wants to be one of us. He was joking about having to play Georgia two years in a row. And even poked fun at himself for getting an 18 on the ACT.

▶️ Secondary Is Primary. The strongest position group on the team is the secondary, according to Coach Pittman, and it's easy to see why. Jalen Catalon leads the group and he was All-SEC First Team last season. Joe Foucha won SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors last season. And the Head Hog has repeatedly praised the position throughout the spring.

▶️ KJ Is QB1. KJ Jefferson is the starting quarterback. Coach Pittman pointed to his experience as a deciding factor, but he was very direct when asked the question. But does Jefferson have competition? Coach Pittman was just as direct: "You dang right he does."

▶️ Vaccines Are A Priority. The SEC recently ruled that games with COVID issues would be ruled a forfeit. It's a strategic advantage to have as high a vaccine rate as possible in college football, which is why it's encouraging to hear Pittman say that 89% of the team has been vaccinated and that the building is over 90%.

Razorback football is back on the field with a home opener against Rice on Saturday, September 4th.
