Prepared. Confident. Physical. Those were the themes from Head Hog Sam Pittman's weekly radio show as he broke down the team's win over Texas and what it took to get there.
What else stood out on the night and what other insights was the head coach able to provide? Let's get to it...
▶️ Senior Moments: Coach Pittman gave a big chunk of credit for the win to the fact that his team is made up of a lot of seniors and upperclassmen: “The great thing about this team is we have 20 seniors … and any time you have that many older guys on a team that are mature, they can run the team. When they’re in the locker room, they’re running the team. When they’re out on Dickson Street, they run the team. We’re not there. They have to handle the football team and these guys have done a really good job."
▶️ Not Even Close: This Razorback coaching staff knew they had the upper hand coming into last weekend's matchup and they talked about that, and what specifically they had to do to come out as winners, all week: "We felt like we had a better football team as long as we went out there and played physical. We were prepared. We were confident. We knew if we’d go out there and be physical, we’d win the game. It wasn’t a real close game."
▶️ Practice Makes Perfect: We're still celebrating the win over Texas, but the Hogs have turned their attention over to this week's opponent in Georgia Southern. And Coach Pittman has the perfect player on his roster to help this team prepare: "I know [Georgia Southern quarterback Justin] Tomlin is good, but he can’t be faster than Malik Hornsby. We’ll see, I guess. They really did a good job of fitting that up today."
Arkansas hosts Georgia Southern this Saturday at 3:00pm CT. You can catch the game on SEC Network.
