Dingers only. There's really no better way to describe what happened at Baum-Walker Stadium.
After seven innings, the Razorback baseball team was up 5-0 and cruising towards a non-conference win.
Then the bottom of the eighth happened... and it went from a smooth drive to jet fueled rocket power.
Braydon Webb started off with a solo shot over the fence in left field. Charlie Welch singled. Cayden Wallace then hit a two-run bomb over the left field fence. Brady Slavens singled to center field. Dylan Leach walked. Ethan Bates then pinch hit for Jalen Battles and reached on catcher’s interference to load the bases.
*takes deep breath*
Jacob Nesbit hit a grand slam for Arkansas’ third home run of the inning. Braydon Webb walked. Christian Franklin doubled to bring him home with two outs. Zack Gregory then doubled to score Franklin for Arkansas’ ninth (and last) run of the inning.
That felt like an R.E.M. song.
And if all that wasn't enough, it was head coach Dave Van Horn's 1,300th career win.
Arkansas baseball has their next matchup against Memphis today at 3:00pm CT live at Baum-Walker Stadium. The game will also be broadcast on SEC Network+
