It was a night of firsts at Baum-Walker Stadium. Arkansas State was making its first appearance at Arkansas. Jaxon Wiggins was given his first start on the mound. And the Razorbacks rolled to a convincing 8-4 win over the Red Wolves.

In 2.0 innings of work, Wiggins faced seven batters, struck out three, and only allowed one hit. (And, more importantly, zero earned runs.)

What were some of the standout plays on the night you may have missed? We've got three of them right here, y'all.

▶️ Heads Up: Christian Franklin popped up along the first base line. Arkansas State made the catch in foul territory, but Brady Slavens saw the Red Wolves weren't paying him much attention. So, he did what any smart base runner would do... he sprinted free to home plate.

▶️ Grand Slam: If you're gonna open the scoring, do it in style. The Razorbacks were scoreless through the fifth inning until Cayden Wallace launched this grand slam over the right field fence. You're gonna want to watch the true freshman's big swing.

▶️ Gold Caps: Arkansas wore gold caps last night because it was their Inaugural Childhood Cancer Awareness Game. And while the Razorbacks used nine pitchers, it was Joshua Ortiz, an 8-year-old battling leukemia, who led things off with the first pitch.

Arkansas is traveling to Tennessee for a series that pits the leaders of the SEC West and SEC East against each other. Game 1 is on Friday night at 5:30pm CT on SEC Network+.
