It was anything but a toss up. Arkansas track & field volunteer assistant coach Ryan Crouser was lights out in his shot put attempt—earning a mark of 72 feet, 4 ¼ inches (22.05 meters) and winning a spot in the Olympic final tonight at 9:05pm CT.

Oh yeah... and Crouser's throw led the field of 12 competitors.

A repeat gold medal performance for Crouser would have him joining three others who have completed a successful Olympic title defense in the shot put event. It’s previously been accomplished by Tomasz Majewski of Poland (2008, 2012), Parry O’Brien of the United States (1952, 1956), and American Ralph Rose (1904, 1908).

Check out our handy dandy Olympic schedule to see when all the Razorbacks and Razorback alums will compete in their events.
